No. 3 Men’s Tennis Ousts No. 6 WNE In CCC First Round, 5-0

BEVERLY, Mass. — The third-seeded Endicott men's tennis team defeated sixth-seeded Western New England (WNE), 5-0, in the first round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament at the South Campus Courts on Saturday afternoon.

The Gulls seized all early momentum with an emphatic 3-0 lead via strong offensive play.

In doubles flights, Conrad Kadel (Heidelberg, Germany) / Antonio Marsallo (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) generated a perfect 8-0 sweep at No. 1, while George Danes (Old Lyme, Conn.) / Aaron Terpko (Shrewsbury, Mass.) supplied an 8-1 triumph at No. 3

The No. 2 pairing of Julian Richtarich (Naples, Fla.) / Hudson De Risi (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) notched an 8-5 victory before singles action.

Richtarich extended the Gulls lead courtesy of a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles before Oliver Pope (South Dartmouth, Mass.) clinched the contest with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at No. 5 to clinch the semifinal berth.

"We did a nice job staying focused heading into today. It feels like the boys are riding a wave of confidence", said Endicott men's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "Hopefully, they find some time to relax for the rest of the weekend; they deserve it."
