Men’s Tennis Tops Emerson, 6-3

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's tennis team defeated Emerson, 6-3, in its home opener Wednesday afternoon at the South Campus Courts.

The Gulls took an early 2-1 advantage before heading into singles play. 

In doubles flights, No. 3 Aaron Terpko (Shrewsbury, Mass.) / Spencer Smith (Albany, N.Y.) generated an 8-4 triumph, while the Gulls top duo of Julian Richtarich (Naples, Fla.) / Antonio Marsallo (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) manufactured a gritty 8-7 (7-3) win.

In singles, No. 3 Richtarich and No. 6 Terpko earned 6-1, 6-2, and 6-1, 6-4 victories, respectively. 

Short after, No. 5 Hudson De Risi (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) clinched the match with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 triumph, while No. 1 Marsallo ripped off a 7-5, 6-2 win.

"We did well today, especially with the weather making it challenging to prepare fully," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "This one should definitely give us some positive energy to build off of".

  • The Gulls earned their first victory at The Nest this season.
  • Marsallo leads the team with five singles wins.
  • The duo of Terpko / Smith generated its second win in the No. 3 slot.
