Men’s Tennis Blanks Curry, 9-0

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's tennis team defeated Curry, 9-0, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference tilt on Saturday afternoon at the South Campus Courts. 

In doubles flights, the Gulls took a commanding lead after a clean sweep before singles play.

The pairings of No. 2 Matt Mittleman (Loudonville, N.Y.) / Patrick Johnson (Beverly, Mass.) and No. 3 James Zeolie (Amherst, N.H.) / Brennan Drolet (North Smithfield, R.I.) each took an 8-1 victory. 

While, the Gulls' top duo of Aaron Terpko (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Spencer Smith (Albany, N.Y.) came away with an 8-2 win to complete the sweep.

In singles, No. 2 Smith and No. 3 Johnson clinched the match for the Gulls with 6-0, 6-0, and 6-1, 6-1 triumphs, respectively. 

The depth of the Gulls lineup provided victories via, No. 1 Oliver Pope (South Dartmouth, Mass) (6-3, 6-3), No. 4 Zeolie (6-0, 6-1), No. 5 Drolet (6-1, 6-1), No. 6 Mittleman (6-1, 6-1).

  • The Blue and Green are 2-1 at The Nest.
  • Smith / Terpko advanced to 4-1 as a doubles pairing.
  • Johnson and Mittleman picked up their first individual wins of the season.

Endicott (6-7, 2-2 CCC) welcomes Wentworth tomorrow at 12:00 PM. Curry (0-6, 0-4 CCC) takes on Wentworth on Wednesday, April 17 at 3:30 PM.
