CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: No.1 UNE Edges No. 2 Endicott In OT, 3-2

BIDDEFORD, Maine — The Endicott field hockey team fell to the University of New England (UNE), 3-2, in overtime on Saturday afternoon in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship game at Blue Bolt Field. 

Following the Nor'easters' first goal at 8:01, Lily Farnham (Andover, Mass.) found the back of the net at the 24:35 mark off a Lindsay Bruns' (Belfast, Maine) feed to knot the game at one apiece. 

Bruns then capitalized on the momentum at 33:26 with her 10th goal of the season to give the Gulls a 2-1 lead.

From there, UNE tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth period (43:39) before Shelly Tremblay (Barre, Mass.) sealed the deal for the Nor'easters with the overtime game-winner at 61:20. 

Meanwhile, in goal for the Gulls, Brianna Anslow (Clifton Park, N.Y.) stopped two shots in the setback (14-5). 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are 19-18 in the all-time series versus the Nor'easters. 
  • With the win, UNE leads the championship series between the two schools (4-3).
  • Farnham scored her fifth goal of the year. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Second-seeded Endicott (15-5) awaits a potential at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. First-seeded UNE (11-9) has secured the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA DIII Field Hockey Tournament.
