BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott field hockey team earned a hard-fought 2-1 overtime victory against No. 4 nationally ranked Tufts on Thursday night at North Field.
Maddy Dengler (Winchester, Mass.) provided the heroics for the Gulls when she buried a breakaway attempt at the 69:01 mark of the contest thanks to a tremendous individual effort from Meaghan Hogan (Cheshire, Conn.).
After receiving a long pass from defender Rachael Lemay (Westminster, Mass.) near the midline, Hogan made a long run up the right side of the field to create a 2-on-1 situation for the Gulls. Hogan then drew in the Jumbos' lone defender before flipping a through ball into the center of the scoring area to set up a wide-open Dengler for the eventual game-winner.
Endicott also scored the first tally of the contest as Claire Boncek (Hamden, Conn.) cleaned up a failed clearance 21:06 into the game.
In goal, Brianna Anslow (Clifton Park, N.Y.) stopped a career-high 12 shots in the win (8-2).
