GOOGLE CLOUD ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA RELEASE, PRESENTED BY CoSIDA | ENDICOTT ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA LIST

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott baseball senior Michael DeDonato (Chelmsford, Mass.) has earned Google Cloud Academic All-America® Third Team honors, as presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) organization. DeDonato is now the first baseball student-athlete in program history to claim Academic All-America honors.

Additionally, with today's announcement, DeDonato joins former Endicott football running back Mike Lane '12 (Medfield, Mass.) as the only student-athletes in Endicott Athletics history to be named an Academic All-American by CoSIDA and an Athletic All-American in the same year. 

On May 25, DeDonato claimed ABCA/Rawlings All-America First Team accolades, in addition to today's honor, to earn the previously mentioned distinction, while Lane was named a CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American and BSN Third Team All-American in 2011.

DeDonato received his Academic All-America honors by posting a .398/.444/.515 (.avg/.obp/.slg) slash line to go along with 38 runs, 68 hits, 14 doubles, two home runs, 34 RBI, 88 total bases, 11 walks, and 39 stolen bases in 42 games played (all starts). 

Nationally, DeDonato finished the year ranked No. 1 among all Division III student-athletes in stolen bases and No. 4 in stolen bases per game (0.93). DeDonato also placed No. 30 in hits and No. 80 in batting average nationally. 

Meanwhile, from a conference standpoint, DeDonato paced the league in hits, doubles, total bases, stolen bases, and batting average, and finished in the top-10 in runs (5th), home runs (8th), RBI (6th), on-base percentage (9th), and slugging percentage (3rd). 

DeDonato also ranks first all-time at Endicott in stolen bases (96), tied second in runs scored (146), fifth in hits (202), tied eighth in doubles (36), tenth in RBI (100), and tied eighth in games played (169).

Academically, DeDonato obtained his undergraduate degrees in just 3 1/2 years at Endicott. DeDonato, who is currently enrolled in the M.B.A. program at the College, compiled an undergraduate 3.82 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as a double major in accounting and finance.  

Additionally, DeDonato has already accepted a full-time assurance position with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) following his M.B.A graduation (starting January 2019). As an assurance intern at PwC – located in Boston – DeDonato worked on an engagement team to complete quarter-end audits for an independent client. He also participated in data analytics using SQL.

GOOGLE CLOUD ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA® PROGRAM INFORMATION

Nominees for the Google Cloud Academic All-District® Team are nominated by their respective Sports Information Director(s) and voted upon by dues paying members within the CoSIDA organization. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution.

The Google Cloud Academic All-America® Program is a highly selective scholar-athlete honor. Approximately 2,000 of the 12,000 student-athletes nominated annually receive "First-Team Academic All-District" honors, and approximately 800 currently gain the prestigious Google Cloud Academic All-America® honor.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® Program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams.

ABOUT COSIDA

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), now in its 61st year as an organization, was founded in 1957-making it the second oldest management association in intercollegiate athletics. Today, it is a vibrant 3,100-plus member national association comprised of the athletic communications, media relations and sports information professionals throughout all levels of collegiate athletics in the United States and Canada.
