The women's tennis team beat Colby-Sawyer yesterday, 6-2, in its last dual match before it competes in the New Englands this weekend. With the win, the Gulls improved their record to 10-1 overall, and 7-1 in the CCC. The team is also currently tied for 1st place in the CCC.
Blythe Langley posted a 4-6, 6-2, 10-6 (super tie-breaker) win at 1st singles for the Gulls, while Brianne Cogan notched an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win at 3rd singles. Sofia Pagano won her 5th singles match, 6-1, 6-1 and Julie Castle rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win at 6th singles.
In the two doubles matches that were played (indoors because of darkness), Langley and Lauren Gibbons won 8-0 at the number one position and Marrone and Tessy Garcia won 8-4 at the \#2 spot.
At the New Englands, which is held at three separate sites -- Amherst College, UMASS Amherst, and Mount Holyoke -- the Gulls will be represented by Langley, Marrone, Gibbons, Cogan, Conners and Castle in singles, and by Langley/Gibbons, Marrone/Garcia, and Cogan/Conners in doubles.
