Sept. 17, 2003

The Endicott women's tennis team continued its winning ways with a 9-0 victory over the Eastern Nazarene Crusaders yesterday afternoon.

Playing at home, the Gulls won each singles match in straight sets, and lost no more than three games in any set. Winning in singles for the Gulls were Blythe Langley, Melissa Marrone, Lauren Gibbons, Brianne Cogan, Julie Castle, and Sophia Pagano. Marrone and Castle teamed up for an 8-6 win at 1st doubles, Bridget Poulsen and Cora Pesaturo won their 2nd doubles match 8-4, and Eulalia Zukas and Viktoria Carlegren posted an 8-4 victory at 3rd doubles.

"I think we played pretty well overall," said Coach Mark Herlihy. "However, I'm particularly happy for Cora and Viktoria whose wins were the first of their collegiate careers." Added Herlihy: "We really haven't been tested yet. We have tough opponents looming on the horizon and we can't get complacent. There's still work to be done."

The Gulls travel to Nichols College on Saturday, September 20 for a match beginning at 12 noon.
