BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's soccer team fell to Wellesley 1-0 in non-conference action on Tuesday night. With the loss, Endicott falls to 1-2-2 on the season, while Wellesley improves to 3-2-0.
The two teams played a scoreless opening 45 minutes as Endicott out-shot the visitors 7-1. The Blue would prove to be opportunistic as they would score the only goal of the match just over a minute into the second half when Carley Phillips (Waterford, Conn.) pounced on a failed clear attempt and put it in the back of the net. The goal was her first of the season and gave the visitors a 1-0 edge. That would prove to be all that Wellesley would need, as the match would end at 1-0.
Endicott held an 18-3 edge in shots and a 10-3 edge in corners for the match. Wellesley's keeper Olivia Reckley (Grosse Ile, Mich.) made eight saves in the win to earn her third shutout.
