Skidmore Edges Endicot 1-0

Gabriella Prisco looks to field a pass in the run of play.

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's soccer team fell to visiting Skidmore 1-0 on Saturday at Hempstead Stadium. With the setback, Endicott falls to 1-1-0 on the young season, while Skidmore improves to 2-0-0.

The two squads played a scoreless first frame that saw each side post six shots. Endicott keeper Kayla Wentworth (Taunton, Mass.) and Skidmore keeper Vivian Montgomery-Walsh (Catonsville, Md.) registered two saves each in the half that saw Endicott hold a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks after 45 minutes.

The Thoroughbreds would notch the lone tally in the match at the 58:34 mark when Carly Craft (Hanover, N.H.) scored off a Yasmine Boukari (Winchester, Mass.) feed. The goal was Craft's first of the season while the assist was Boukari's second.

Endicott's best chance came in the 89th minute when Gabriella Prisco (West Haven, Conn.) ran onto a feed from Sharlotte Pernice (West Springfield, Mass.) and poked a one-timer that arched right over the reach of Skidmore's Ava Keller (Minneapolis, Minn.), but glanced off the crossbar before being cleared.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott would go on to out-shoot Skidmore 14-13, but the visitors would finish with a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
  • Standing at 2-0-0, the Thoroughbreds are already half way to 2017's win total of four.
  • Boukari's assist in today's match gives her six points on the young season as she led Skidmore to a 3-2 OT win over Gordon on Friday by posting two goals and an assist.
  • Wentworth finished with six saves in the setback for the Gulls.
  • This was the first ever meeting between the two programs.
