NEW LONDON, N.H. - Endicott College posted three first half goals as the Gulls handed Colby-Sawyer College its first conference loss of the season, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon in New London, N.H. Caitlin Flynn (Southold, N.Y.) and Colleen Pepin (Fairhaven, Mass.) both scored two goals for the Gulls on the afternoon. Endicott remains undefeated in conference play, improving its record to 3-0 (4-2-1 overall), as the Chargers dropped their record to 1-1-0 in TCCC play.
The Chargers lone goal came off the foot of senior Elise Kapp (Yarmouthport, Mass.) as she scored on a rebound inside the box. The goal increased her team leading total to three on the season. The Chargers ended up striking twelve shots, but could only sneak one pass Endicott goalkeeper Amy Meuse (Saugus, Mass.).
Flynn's two goals were almost perfect mirror images of themselves. During both goals, Flynn attacked from the right side then used her right foot to place the ball past Chargers goalkeeper Christina Quirk (Milford, Conn.) and into the bottom left corner of the net. The Gulls offensive attack outshot the Chargers 29-12. Quirk made 11 saves on the day.
Pepin increased the Gulls' lead to 3-1 in the 40th minute when she headed the ball into the net. She added one more tally on a nice through ball from freshman Kaitlin Waring (Montpelier, Vt.).
The Chargers will play the University of New England on Tuesday, September 23 to start the team's longest road trip of the year. Colby-Sawyer can next been seen playing on Kelsey field on October 4, as they host conference opponent Regis. Endicott returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to meet Eastern Nazarene at 7:00 p.m.
