2018 Women's Lacrosse Season Preview

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team starts the 2018 season looking to build upon last year's success and defend as Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Champions after winning the title during the 2017 season.

Head coach Maureen Spellman begins her first year at the helm after spending the past four years as the women's lacrosse head coach at Southern Connecticut State University.

RETURNING CAST (ROSTER): The Gulls return many key student-athletes from last year's roster including several All-CCC Team selections, including Defensive Player of the Year Bella Rino (Northborough, Mass.) and Rookie of the Year Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass.). Also returning for Endicott are Olivia Larson (Cheshire, Conn.), Ali Campbell (Lakeville, Mass.), and Talia Dellatto (Andover, Mass.), who earned All-CCC Second Team honors. Lacroix was third on the team in scoring last season, as she recorded 38 goals and 19 assists for 57 points. The Gulls will also look for offense from sophomore Meghan Dutchyshyn (Cheshire, Conn.), who tallied 43 goals and nine assists for 52 points.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR (SCHEDULE): Endicott begins the 2018 season at Wheaton (Mass.) on Wednesday, Feb. 28. The home opener is slated for Wednesday, March 7, when the Gulls host Tufts at 7 p.m. Conference play begins on Saturday, March 24 with a 4 p.m. contest at Salve Regina. CCC play wraps up at Nichols on Tuesday, April 24 and then the Gulls will begin the quest for their second consecutive conference title as the tournament quarterfinals start on Saturday, April, 28. 

PRESEASON PLAUDITS (POLL): The Gulls were picked to finish first in the CCC Preseason Coaches' Poll with a total of 79 points and eight first-place votes.

2017 YEAR IN REVIEW: During the 2017 season the team had an overall record of 14-5 and a perfect 8-0 record in conference play. The Gulls advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament, where they were handed a close 16-14 loss by Farmingdale State.

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott opens the 2018 season on the road at Wheaton (Mass.) on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
