Gulls Fall to CCC Foe Nichols on the Road

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team traveled to Nichols on Saturday afternoon for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup. Despite some strong doubles play the Gulls fell to the reigning CCC champions 9-0. Endicott falls to 7-6 (3-2 CCC) while the Bison improve to 14-5 (6-1 CCC).

Endicott will take the courts next on Tuesday, April 21st as they travel to Eastern Nazarene for their final road match of the regular season. The Gulls will wrap up the regular season as they host Salve Regina on Wednesday April 22nd and Gordon on Saturday, April 25th. The Bison will play just one more match on the regular season as they travel to Western New England on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. first serve.

In doubles action, senior Erin Gandrup (Sudbury, Mass.) and junior Eric Pierce (Barrington, R.I.) played the biggest battle as they fell to counterparts, sophomore James Smith (Monte Sereno, Calif.) and junior John Halpern (Secaucus, N.J.) 8-5 in the #2 slot. Senior Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) and Justin Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.) fell in a tough 8-4 decision at the #3 slot while freshman Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) and junior Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) fell 8-2.

In singles play, Dolph played the longest match of the day taking a tough 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) tie-breaker loss to sophomore Joan Castillo (Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic). The Bison were able to control singles play after taking the 3-0 lead in doubles to secure the 9-0 victory with six singles victories.
