Gulls Cruise Through Day One of Spring Tennis Fest with 9-0 Victory Over Thomas

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Endicott men's tennis team traveled down to Hilton Head Island for spring break to compete in the Spring Tennis Fest. The Gulls opened up the week strong as they took down regional opponent, Thomas 9-0 on Monday afternoon. Endicott improves to 2-2 while the Terriers drop their season opener at 0-1.

Endicott will take the courts next, tomorrow, March 17th as they battle with Farleigh Dickinson for a 6:00 p.m. match. Please note that this match was originally scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and has bumped to an evening slot.

In doubles play finishing first, in the #1 slot, freshman Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) and partner, junior Michael Dolph (Plymouth, Mass.) cruised to an 8-3 victory over senior Eric Morin (Lewiston, Maine) and junior Tyler Small (Surry, Maine). In the #3 slot, senior Justin Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.) and junior Eric Pierce (Barrington, R.I.) followed with their 8-2 victory. Wrapping up doubles play in the #2 slot, sophomore Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) and senior Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) also took an 8-2 victory to lead 3-0 heading into singles play.

The Blue and Green controlled the courts as all but one set went more than a 6-2 score. Playing strong in the #3 slot, Dolph took the first singles game as he defeated senior Jonte Roussel (Brockton, Mass.) (6-0, 6-1). In the #4 slot, Lauretano followed suit as he took freshman Zachary Disch (Waterville, Maine) (6-1, 6-1) to secure the victory with the 5th triumph on the day.

Wrapping up the win in singles play all remaining Gulls took their opponents. #5 McAndrews (6-0, 6-2), #1 Kirkpatrick (6-1, 6-2), #6 Warshavsky (6-1, 6-1) and in the #2 slot Pierce (6-4, 6-2).
