Senior Ryan Vigilant Earns All-Star Honors

March 29, 2005

Beverly, MA -- Endicott men's soccer player Ryan Vigilant (Westford, MA) has earned one more chance to represent the Gulls this year. The senior defender has been selected to play in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League All-Star game being held on April 23rd at Babson College. The game is scheduled to kick-off at 5:00 p.m.

Each spring, member coaches of the NEISL select 11 of the top senior collegiate players from both Division I and Division II and 22 players from Division III to compete on the NEISL Senior All-Star Team. "He was the anchor of our defense this past year," said head coach Stefano Franciosa. "He is very fast and plays very physical. Because of his style of play and athletic ability he was, for the most part, matched with the opposing teams' best forward."

Vigilant's composure and patience on the field along with his sportsmanship and dedication to the team will be greatly missed next year. The Westford native played his junior and senior years under Coach Franciosa. He earned Third Team All Conference honors in his junior year and Second Team All Conference Honors his senior year. In his final season as a starting defender Vigilant scored 2 goals and gave out one assist.

Vigilant will play as a defender for the South/East team, coached by Jon Anderson (Babson College), and Tom Lang (Southern Connecticut). The NEISL is an organization of colleges and universities in New England that was founded in 1934, making it the oldest active soccer league in the American collegiate ranks. Currently there are 103 institutions representing NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA Athletics Associations that comprise the NEISL. The mission of the league is the continuing promotion and advancement of soccer through the efforts of its member.
