Gulls survive first quarter scare, beat NEC

Manchester, N.H. – Endicott scored the final nine goals of the game to cruise past the New England College Pilgrims, 15-6, on Saturday afternoon in men’s lacrosse action at Southern New Hampshire University. With the win, Endicott halts a three game slide and the Gulls improve to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in TCCC play. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 0-5 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.

NEC would open the game with four quick goals building a 4-0 lead just five minutes into the opening quarter. Endicott would get on the board late in the frame as \#Brad Lipkvich\# (Madison, Conn.) would score off a feed from \#Jonathan Prentince\# (Chelmsford, Mass.) at the 5:18 mark. NEC’s Brian Gillis (N. Vancouver, B.C) would get the goal back, scoring his second of the afternoon to close out the quarter.

The Gulls would open the second quarter with three straight unassisted goals before NEC’s John Gabriel (West Nyack, N.Y.) would stop the onslaught with a man-up goal for the Pilgrims. Endicott would close out the half with goals from \#Ryan Tocci\# (Arlington, Mass.) and \#Chris Cotter\# (Fairfield, Conn.) to head into halftime up, 7-6.

The second half of play would be all Gulls as Endicott went on to score five goals in the third quarter and tack on three more in the fourth. The Endicott defense held NEC to just eight second half shots and kept the Pilgrims off the board cruising to the 15-6 victory.

Endicott finished the game out shooting NEC 52-20.

Endicott’s \#Brad Lipkvich\# finished the game with three goals and an assist, while \#Jonathan Prentince\# netted two goals and added an an assist.

Leading the way for NEC was Brian Gillis who finished with two goals and Sam Freihofner (Scarsdale, N.Y.) who had a goal and dished out two assists.

Picking up the win in net for Endicott was senior \#Eric Hagarty\# (Sudbury, Mass.), who finished with four saves. Seeing the majority of time in net for NEC was Nick Fischer (S. Burlington, Vt.) who finished with 18 stops in the losing effort. 

Endicott returns to action on Wednesday evening when the Gulls welcome cross-town rival Gordon College onto campus for a 7:00 p.m. showdown with the Fighting Scots.
