Endicott slotted for second place finish in preseason poll

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott College men’s lacrosse team has been picked to finish second in The Commonwealth Coast Conference, behind Western New England College, according to the 2010 TCCC Preseason Poll announced by the league offices on Thursday afternoon. The Gulls are currently ranked 18th in the country according to Inside Lacrosse while also being ranked 20th according to the USILA Coaches Poll.

Two-time Defending TCCC Champion Western New England (17-3, 9-0) received nine of the 11 first-place votes in the 2010 TCCC preseason poll and the Golden Bears enter the season ranked \#7 in the country by Inside Lacrosse. Endicott was selected by the coaches as the runner-up in the conference and received the remaining two first-place votes. Roger Williams was picked to finish third, while Salve Regina and New England College were picked to finish fourth and fifth, respectively. For the first time this season, Anna Maria joins competition for the 2010 TCCC Men’s Lacrosse Championship.

Endicott (17-4, 8-1) raced out to a quick start to the season, winning their first seven games while reaching as high as \#6 in the national polls. The Gulls would drop a pair of non-conference games during the season to Colby and Tufts while eventual TCCC Champion Western New England handed Endicott its other two losses, including a 12-7 defeat in the TCCC Championship game. The Gulls would go onto the ECAC Championship and captured their second-consecutive banner with a 22-4 thrashing of New England College to end the season.

Teams received 11 points for every first place vote received, 10 points for second place votes, nine points for third place votes, down to one point for a last place vote. First place votes are shown in parentheses.
