Endicott wins ECAC New England Championships
FARMINGTON, Conn. – Endicott College shot a team score of 609, six strokes better than second place finisher UMass-Dartmouth, as the Gulls captured the 2009 ECAC Division III Men’s New England Golf Championship at Tunxis Plantation Country Club in Farmington, Conn. over the weekend. Medalist honors went to Nichols College Pat Pio (Somers, Conn.), who shot a 146 over the two day event. Endicott’s \#Andrew LaRocque\# (Averill Park, N.Y.) fired a 148 to finish tied for second.

Play was unsuspended due to inclement weather on Saturday, preventing the Gulls from finishing their round on the opening day of the tournament. The Blue and Green were forced to resume play on Sunday morning, where they promptly shot their way to a share of first place after the first round with a team score of 309.

Endicott took control of the field in its second round of the afternoon, finishing nine strokes better than its previous round with a 300. The score was the best of the weekend, edging out Castleton State’s second round of 303. The Gulls finished the weekend with a team score of 609, six strokes ahead of UMass-Dartmouth and ten shots better than Johnson & Wales and Castleton.

The Gulls had two players finish in the top-10 of the individual leader board, headlined by \#Andrew LaRocque\#’s score of 148 (75 first round, 73 second round). Freshman \#Jackson Wyman\# (Falmouth, Maine) finished tied for 10th overall as he stroked a first round score of 73, and posted an 80 on his final round to finish with a combined score of 153.

The Gulls, who won the UNE Invitational and finished second at the USM Fall Classic, will look to keep their successful season rolling into next weekend when the Gulls travel to Trinity College for a two day event on October 10-11.
