Sawchuck awarded CCC Player of the Week honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott junior Emily Sawchuck (Cumberland, Maine) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Offensive Player of the Week, announced on Tuesday by CCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. This marks the second straight week a Gull has been selected for a weekly honor.

Sawchuck was a key asset to the field hockey team's 2-0 week, collecting wins against North Shore rival Salem State and Colby-Sawyer.

The junior had an impressive game against Salem State where she recorded her second best single game performance tallying five points after scoring two goals and an assist. In the process she also set a new program record for most game winning goals with 12.

Sawchuck's first goal game came at the end of the first half where she took the ball at the stroke mark to lift it passed the Vikings goalkeeper to end the half in a tie. Her second goal game in the 57th minute as she took a rebound off the goalkeeper's pads to find the back of the net for her first game winning goal on the season.

The Blue and Green now stand at 2-1 and look ahead to Wednesday September 11th where they will travel to UMass Dartmouth for a 6:30 contest. The Corsairs will be one of the strongest opponents the Gulls face this season.
