Solarik And Tansey Earn CCC Weekly Honors For Defensive Efforts

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior goalkeeper Lizetta Solarik (Carmel, N.Y.) and Sophomore Siena Tansey (West Springfield, Mass.) earned weekly honors with the CCC. Solarik claimed her second Defensive Player of the Week honor while Tansey earned her first honor as Rookie of the Week. The Gulls went 1-2 on the week beating Roger Williams 7-0, and losing to No.17 MIT as well as Gordon.

Solarik played in all 210 minutes for the Gulls this past week. In a 7-0 victory over the conference opponent Roger Williams, Solarik posted two saves to earn the shutout. The senior then recorded a career-high 22 saves in a tough 4-2 loss to No.17 MIT. To end the week she posted 11 saves in the loss to conference opponent Gordon.

Tansey helped lead the Gulls in the 7-0 win against Roger Williams. She anchored the defensive end to help nab the shutout by providing a strong defensive effort on the Hawk's six offensive corners. She also was a force in the midfield stopping the ball high and ending scoring opportunities for Roger Williams. The shutout was the third on the season for the Blue and Green.

The team takes the field on Wednesday as they travel to Salve Regina for a conference matchup at 7:00 p.m. The Gulls will then return to the nest for a homecoming weekend where they will host CCC rival UNE at 1:00 p.m.
