The Gulls jumped out to an early lead with 13:51 to go in the first quarter when Scott Peters caught a 39 yard pass from Jameson Pelkey (8-28, 193 yds, 3 INT) to put Endicott up 6-0. On a bad snap, Endicott scrambled failed on a Josh Clark pass. With 3:11 left in the first quarter the Falcons forced a fumble and fell on the ball in the end zone to edge ahead 7-6.
In the heart of the 2nd quarter with the clock showing 8:24 Dan Marshall caught a 45 yard pass from Pelkey for Endicott to put the Gulls back on top 12-7. The extra point from Jeremiah Demster failed as it nicked the left upright. The Gulls came out of halftime leading 12-7 but then got stunned as Fitchburg St. went on to score 27 unanswered points.
With the scoreboard showing 0:57 seconds left in the contest, Fitchburg St. 34 Endicott 12, Matt Thompson rushed for 3 yards to score for the Gulls closing the gap to 34-18 in favor of the Falcons. Demster's extra point attempt failed. The game came to a close with Fitchburg on top 34-18.
Turnovers plagued both teams throughout the entire afternoon as Fitchburg lost 3 fumbles and threw 3 interceptions and the Gulls lost 4 fumbles and also threw 3 interceptions. Both teams combined for 6 turnovers in the first quarter alone.
Fitchburg St. recorded 154 yards rushing a d Endicott only netted 109 but due to penalties, the Gulls lost 99 yards compared to the Falcons 11 yards. Endicott netted 302 yards of total offense just edging out Fitchburg St. who logged 288.
Marshall and Peters had 97 and 96 yards receiving respectively and 1 touchdown a piece for the Gulls. Thompson rushed for 68 yards and had 1 touchdown while Pelky threw for almost 200 yards netting 193 with 2 touchdowns but threw 3 interceptions and was sacked 3 times. Brian Harnish had 117 return yards, Danny Sanabria rushed for 88 yards and Corey Hethermen was 14-26 for 145 yds with 2 INT's to lead the Falcons offense.
Andy West led the Gulls defense with 12 total tackles and 1 forced fumble. Bryan Deshler headed the Falcons defense with 8 total tackles.
The Falcons second half domination of the Gulls offensively coupled with Endicott's 7 turnovers were the reasons Fitchburg St. was able to move on with the victory to drop the Gulls record to 2-3 on the season.
Endicott will host Salve Regina University for homecoming next Saturday the 18th at 12pm at Endicott Stadium.
