The Commonwealth Coast Conference announced the weekly honors and once again Endicott College student-athletes were recognized in all three categories. The honors were based on play during the week ending September 21st.
Earning two honors for volleyball are freshman Sara Moore (Guilford, CT) and junior Susan Teta (Charlestown, RI). Moore was awarded Rookie of the Week honor for her standout play during the past week. From her middle hitter position, Moore recorded a .317 hitting percentage in three matches which resulted in 26 kills. In a tri-match against Eastern Nazarene and University of New England, Moore had back-to-back double-digits. The Rookie of the Week totaled 13 blocks, including seven during the win over UNE, 2nd best in school history. Teta earned Player of the Week Honor Roll recognition as a result of thirty kills with a .195 hitting percentage in three matches.
Representing Women's Tennis are sophomore Blythe Langley (North Hampton, NH) and freshman Brianne Cogan (Saratoga Springs, NY) who were both rewarded for their play by earning Player of the Week nominations. Both were recognized and placed on the Honor Roll list. Contributing to Endicott's undefeated season to this point, Langley, who plays first singles, has helped the Gulls with her impressive 4-0 start. Cogan earned the honor as a result of a 3-0 start in doubles, and 4-0 record in singles.
Junior Leah Walters (Brookline, MA) received Co-Player of the Week honor for her outstanding performances in the past two wins. Walters had two goals and an assist in each of the wins last week, contributing to Endicott's best start under the guidance of head coach Dina Gentile (10th season).
Also earning Player of the Week is junior forward Jenn McCormack (Milton, MA), a member of the field hockey team. McCormack scored both goals in Endicott's 2-1 victory over Nichols College. With only 42 seconds left in the game, McCormack netted home the game-winner.
In other Endicott sports news, the football team won their first varsity game ever. With a score of 27-7, the Endicott football team defeated Framingham State. EC is now 1-1 for the season. The men's golf team placed third overall in the CCC Championships. Leading the team to the impressive finish was Brian Gill, who tied for 5th place overall.
