Equestrian Wins Bridgewater State Show

NORTON, Mass. — The Endicott equestrian team finished first overall at the Bridgewater State University (BSU) Show on Sunday evening, hosted at the ABD Equestrian Farm.

Endicott scored 43 points, nine points ahead of the reserve champion. Today's performance also put the Gulls in a tie for first place with Stonehill on the regionals leaderboard.

Sophia Channell (Vergennes, Vt.) highlighted the team as high point rider. Channell won both open fences and intermediate flat, qualifying for regionals in the latter.

Overall, the Gulls produced seven individual wins on the day.

"Today was a phenomenal day for the Gulls. Everyone rode so well, and it truly shows how the hard work at home is paying off in the show ring," said Endicott equestrian head coach Megan Martin. "Riders' attention to detail in their classes paved the way for our seven individual wins, and I am so proud of the effort they all put in today. As we head into the final show of our regular season in two weeks, we'll be aiming to win again and take our team to Zone Finals!"

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sydney Putnam (Ghent, N.Y.) qualified for regionals with a first place finish in limit flat.
  • Anna Berd (Hubbardston, Mass.) ranked first overall in limit fences.
  • Kendall Harris (Henniker, N.H.) made her debut and placed first in novice flat.
  • Emily Bianco (Barrington, R.I.) turned in a first place performance in novice flat.
  • Lindsey Nygren (Gorham, Maine) was awarded first place in introductory flat.
  • Isabelle Wulff (New London, N.H.) put together strong rides in intermediate fences (2nd) and limit flat (4th).
  • Irina Canute (Sudbury, Mass.) came in the runner-up spot in limit flat.
  • Lucia Taylor (Lyme, N.H.) placed fifth in limit fences.
  • Rachel Wells (Colchester, Conn.) shined in limit flat.

Endicott competes at the Brandeis Show on Saturday, March 16 (Bolton, Mass./Century Mills Stables).
