Gulls win at Endicott Invitational

Gulls win at Endicott Invitational
Endicott hosted Roger Williams University in the first ever Endicott Invitational Regatta on Saturday, October 30, in the Halloween Capital of the World, Salem, MA. Kicking off the day, the men's novice 4+, racing in shirt and ties for halloween were all business as they routed the Hawks by nearly 3.5 minutes on the full 3 miles course. Freshman Scott MacPhea said, "We rowed pretty well. It wasn't our best rower, but we're getting better and better." Coach Chorney agrees, "This crew has more potential than any crew I've coached before. These guys have shown significant flashes of brilliance and have all the physical tools a coach can ask for. Once we get everything clicking with consistency, they're going to be tough to beat for a long time."

In other events, as tide caused the river to get lower and lower, the day got more and more festive. In the women's novice 4+, Endicott B (coxed by varsity coxswain Kaitlyn Walker) was the only crew able to avoid a sandbar.

Kaitlyn and the Roger Williams rowers, who got 'unstuck' the fastest recieved gold medals for their efforts, but no official times for the event were tallied.

The women's varsity 4+ event saw the closest racing and best costumes of the day. Endicott's Spice Girls edged out Roger William's Ninja Turtles by just
3 seconds for gold in a 1000m sprint after Roger Williams recieved their 5 second time bonus for the best dressed rowers on the day.

Next week the Gulls finish off the fall season in Auburndale, MA for the third annual New England Colegiate Rowing League (Not Quite) Halloween Regatta.
