Crew Rows in Right Direction at NH Championships

Crew Rows in Right Direction at NH Championships

Oct. 23, 2008

October 11th was the first full blown regatta in Endicott crew history. For many of the 2008-2009 squad, it was their first regatta ever as well, but the program took some big strides in the right direction.

The EC crew team showed great success for a new and inexperienced program, and continues to show improvements every practice. The performance of the day was turned in by the Women's Novice 4+. who finished 5th of 7 in their first race ever. Equally as impressive, three of the rowers and the coxswain from that crew jumped into the Open 4+ (varsity 4+) later in the day, and held their own against much more experienced crews who were on the course for their first time of the day, finishing 7 of 8 in heat B. The Men's Novice 4+, borrowing a rower from WIT, was very fired up for their race and even from the shore, you could see them pouring every ounce of effort into the final strokes.

All and all it was a great day of racing and Coach Chorney considers it a job well done. Crew's next race is Sunday, November 2 in the inaugural Barely Afloat Halloween Regatta on the upper Charles River in Auburdale, MA.
