Gulls Go 2-0 In Weekend Contests

HAMILTON, Mass. – The Endicott men's club ice hockey team went 2-0 this weekend in two matchups against Bryant University. In game one in Bulldogs Territory senior Cameron MacLeod (Hampton Falls, N.H.) lit up the arena with four goals in the 4-3 victory. Back in Hamilton for game two, senior Tad Gold (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) netted two in the 4-1 win at the Pingree School. The Gulls now stand at 4-1 on the season.

Game One at Bryant

The first period was a battle for both squads, but the Bulldogs were able to draw the first goal at 18:37. Freshman Domenic Giovannone (Centerville, Mass.) blasted the puck past freshman goaltender Nick Russo (Waltham, Mass.) to take the early 1-0 lead.

The lead would not last for long as MacLeod tallied the tying goal eight minutes later to get the Gulls back in the game. To start up the second period the Bulldogs added another tally to take back the lead after freshman Raffaele Colella (Malden, Mass.) finished the play started by freshman Nate Crepeau (Biddeford, Maine) to find the back of the net.

At 9:39 MacLeod answered back as he found the back of the net after finishing the play started by seniors Gold and Chris Murphy (Holden, Mass.) who came away with the assists. At the start of the third period Bryant came back one more time after senior Jerry Theiler (Waterford, N.Y.) was able to slip the puck past the Endicott defense to take the lead back.

MacLeod answered back again for good as he controlled a feed from senior Ryan Pratt (Waltham, Mass.) to tie the game back up to 3-3. Murphy started the scoring opportunity as he was awarded the assist with Pratt. The goal would not be the last for Macleod as he tallied the game-winning goal with 10 minutes remaining in regulation. On a line with Pratt and Gold, MacLeod found the back of the net once again to take the win 4-3.

The win would help prepare the Blue and Green for the following night where they host the same Bulldogs team they had just defeated.

Game Two vs. Bryant

The Bulldogs came out looking for redemption from the following night. About halfway through the first period senior Michael Catanzariti (Hopedale, Mass.) earned the first tally of the night for the Bulldogs to take the 1-0. Again, the lead would not last for long as senior Clark Dumart (Shrewsbury, Mass.) tied the game back up after finishing a play started by Murphy and senior Kevin Butler (Natick, Mass.) who earned the assists.

To start off the second period Gold tallied the game winning goal at 13:27 after controlling a feed from Pratt and blasting the puck into the back of the net. With five minutes remaining before the second intermission Gold recorded his second goal of the game to increase the lead to three to enter the intermission.

The third period was quiet for both ends until the final minutes. Macleod tallied his fifth goal on the weekend after receiving the puck from junior Dana Boudreau (Plymouth, Mass.) and netting the fourth goal of the game. The Bulldogs could not answer back as they were snapped by the Gulls 4-1.

Endicott will look ahead to Saturday, October 26th when they host UNH.
