Corvias ECAC Women's Volleyball Players of the Week (Week Ending Nov. 1)
DANBURY, Conn.- During a week in which she was named to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Second Team, sophomore Cydney Pierce (Santa Barbara, Calif.) was named Corvias ECAC DIII New England Libero of the Week for the third time this season.
Pierce anchored a defense that helped lead the Gulls to a 3-0 week including a 3-1 win over Salve Regina on the road and two sweeps at home of Eastern Nazarene and St. Joseph's (Conn.). In the win over Salve Regina, the libero posted 26 digs before posting 14 and eight against Eastern Nazarene and St. Joseph's, respectively. For the week, Pierce averaged 4.80 digs per set, slightly higher than her 4.67 per set average for the season.
The women's volleyball team, having claimed a 3-1 win over the University of New England on Tuesday, travels to Gordon tonight for a 7:00 p.m. start to their CCC Semifinal match as the Gulls look to avenge their first regular season loss to the Scots in seven years.
