Sheehan and Pierce Collect Weekly Conference Honors

Sheehan and Pierce Collect Weekly Conference Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Following a 3-2 week that saw the Endicott women's volleyball team collect wins over NYU, Kean and Stevens Tech, outside Lauren Sheehan (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) and libero Cydney Pierce (Santa Barbara, Calif.) were named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week and Libero of the Week, respectively.

For Sheehan, the Player of the Week distinction is her second of the season as she previously received the honor on September 8.  The sophomore hit .215 for the week, eclipsing double-digits in kills in four of the five matches, averaging 3.74 kills per set over that span. Sheehan led the team in kills in three of the team's five matches, posting a career high 23 kills in the 3-1 win over Kean on 51 swings, which were also a career best.  The Washington native also added 19 digs and six total blocks on the week.

For Pierce, her Libero of the Week honor is her first of the season as she registered 97 digs on the week and was named to the Stevens Tech Invitational All-Tournament Team after averaging 5.07 digs/set at the Invitational.  Pierce eclipsed the 20 dig plateau three times, giving her seven 20+ dig performances on the season and finished the week with a 4.58 digs/set average.  The California native also added six assists and four aces to her week.

Sheehan, Pierce and the rest of the team are back in action Wednesday when they travel across the harbor to take on Salem St. in their annual North Shore Cup match before returning home Saturday to host Wentworth at 11:00 a.m.
