Sheehan Named ECAC DIII New England Player of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias ECAC Women's Volleyball Players of the Week for the week ending September 6, and Endicott's Lauren Sheehan (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) was named DIII New England Player of the Week.

This marks just the fifth time in program history that an Endicott player has received a weekly award from the ECAC, joining current teammate Erika Trudon (Coventry, Conn.) who won the award last season, as the only active players to have received the honor.

An outside, Sheehan averaged 3.83 kills and 1.92 digs per set, while hitting a strong .372 as the Gulls opened the 2015 with a 4-0 record.  The sophomore opened the campaign by logging 16 kills and four digs in a 3-0 sweep of Simmons.  Sheehan posted a career-best 19 kills to go with three digs in a 3-1 victory over Keene State, added five kills, seven digs and a block in a sweep of Southern Maine, and chipped in six kills, nine digs and two blocks in a sweep of Brandeis.

Sheehan and the Gulls are back in action tomorrow night when they play host to Bates and Bowdoin in day one of the MIT Invitational.  First serve is set for 4:30 p.m.
