Endicott Turns Away Western New England, 5-0, On Senior Day

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team claimed a 5-0 league victory over Western New England University on Saturday afternoon at the Bass River Tennis Club. Senior Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) was also honored for his contributions towards the men's tennis program prior to today's match.

In doubles play, Nicholas Eherts (New Milford, Conn.) and Matthew Doherty (Plymouth, Mass.) registered a swift 8-1 victory at No. 3, before Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) and Dolph turned in an 8-2 triumph at No. 1.

Eric Pierce (Barrington, R.I.) and Keaton McCleary (Newtown, Conn.) eventually secured the sweep for the Gulls moments later with an 8-6 win at No. 2.

In singles, Pierce cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3, while Dolph fittingly clinched the match for Endicott with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2.

"A big thank you goes out to Bass River for hosting a great day for the men's team," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "It was especially a great day for senior captain Mike Dolph who clinched the match for us against a tough opponent."

  • Today's match, which was moved indoors due to inclement weather, was played to decision.
  • Kirkpatrick and Eherts were also ahead in their respective singles matches prior to Dolph's victory in the No. 2 slot.
  • Dolph is 14-4 overall in singles play this season, which includes an 8-2 record at No. 2.
