Men’s Tennis Downs Concordia (Wis.), 8-1

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Endicott men's tennis team opened up its 2016 spring break trip against Concordia (Wis.) on Monday evening with an 8-1 victory at the Evian Tennis Center.

Endicott swept doubles play to begin the match, taking No. 1, 2, and 3 spots in order over the Falcons.

Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) and Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) cruised to an 8-1 victory in the No. 1 slot, while Eric Pierce (Barrington, R.I.) and Keaton McCleary (Newtown, Conn.) turned in an 8-5 win at the No. 2 position. Matt Doherty (Plymouth, Mass.) and Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) completed the sweep at No. 3 with an 8-2 triumph.

In singles play, Kirkpatrick posted a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1, while McAndrews registered a 6-0, 7-5 victory at the No. 4 position to lock up the victory. Dolph eventually followed with a swift 6-0, 6-4 decision at No. 2 and Sam Salvas (Stowe, Vt.) notched a hard-fought 2-6, 6-1, 10-7 victory in the No. 6 slot before Pierce rounded out the list of winners in singles play for the Gulls at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0).

"It's always good to start out the spring break trip with a win," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "The guys played well in the heat today, but now we need to set our focus on resting up for tomorrow's matches, which feature some stiff competition."
