Men’s Tennis Blanks Salve Regina, 9-0

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Endicott men's tennis team posted a 9-0 victory over Salve Regina University on Thursday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Leroy Avenue Tennis Courts.

Endicott only dropped four games in doubles action on the day as the No. 1 pairing of Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) and Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) started off the match for the Gulls with an 8-1 win over their opponents. Eric Pierce (Barrington, R.I.) and Keaton McCleary (Newtown, Conn.) followed with an 8-2 triumph in the No. 2 slot, while Anthony Rinaldi (Attleboro Falls, Mass.) and Sam Salvas (Stowe, Vt.) wrapped up the doubles sweep with an 8-1 victory at No. 3.

In singles play, Nicholas Eherts (New Milford, Conn.) claimed a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 4 position to push the match score to 4-0, before Matthew Doherty (Plymouth, Mass.) wrapped up the win for Endicott at the No. 5 slot with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph.

Pierce went on to make quick work of his opponent at No. 1 (6-0, 6-2), while Dolph breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 2 for a 7-0 lead. McCleary and Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) later followed with victories at the No. 6 (6-0, 6-0) and No. 3 (6-2, 6-4) positions, respectively, to round out the list of highlights for the Gulls.

"I'm happy with the way our guys rebounded today after Sunday's loss to Nichols," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "Today's win also is a great start to the stretch of seven matches we have to play over the next twelve days."
