No. 22 Asbury Defeats Men’s Tennis, 9-0

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Endicott men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 22 nationally ranked Asbury University on Tuesday evening at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center.

The Gulls, who were playing in their second match of the day, opened up doubles play with a few closely contested, hard-fought matches, especially at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.

Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) and Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) fell at No. 1 by an 8-5 score, while Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) and Nicholas Eherts (New Milford, Conn.) came up short in an 8-6 match in the No. 2 slot.

In singles play, Kirkpatrick, Eric Pierce (Barrington, R.I.), and Dolph all lost by 6-4, 6-2 scores at the No. 1, 2, and 3 positions to highlight Endicott's efforts.

"We played a really tough opponent today in nationally ranked Asbury, but despite the loss I'm proud with how the guys fought and battled, especially on the back end of a doubleheader," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "I'm looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow for our last match of the trip against Edgewood."

  • Endicott's Dolph and Kirkpatrick are a combined 13-4 in singles play this season.
  • Dolph leads the team with seven wins, while Kirkpatrick has six.
