Gulls Earn No. 3 Seed in CCC Tourney

Oct. 28, 2005

BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott men's and women's soccer teams will each host Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament first round games Saturday.

The top-seeded women will play No. 8 Salve Regina University at noon while the men earned the third seed and will take on Colby-Sawyer College (3:00 pm).

The men beat the Chargers, 1-0, at Endicott Stadium during the regular season and have been on a role heading into the playoffs after stumbling out of gates.

The Gulls (8-8-1, 7-3-1 CCC) lost six of their first seven games, but have played into a home playoff game, going 6-1-1 (lost to Gordon, 2-1; tied Salve, 1-1) over the final eight contests. In that span, Endicott has allowed just three goals, while posting 19 goals.

Senior captains Kyle Austin (Keene, NH/Keene) and Josh Lewis (Groveland, MA/Pentucket) have played a huge role in the team's late surge. They have emerged as the team's go-to players. Austin has four goals and 10 points, while Lewis has been the consummate playmaker. He has five goal and 12 assists for 22 points. Moreover, Lewis has recorded a point in all but one of Endicott's final eight contests.

Senior captain Daniel Duvernoy (Hamilton,NY/Hamilton) is capping a stellar four-year career at Endicott. After playing some center midfield during the Gulls' slump, Duvernoy has returned to natural sweeper position and has solidified an already tough defense that begins with sophomore goaltender Cameron Twiss (Reading, MA/Bishop Fenwick).

Freshman Pirapong Sirikietsoong (Bankok, Thailand) has been steady at midfield while sophomore Elias Carrero (Great Barrington, MA/Monumen Mountain) compliments Austin well at center midfield.

If Endicott can get past Colby-Sawyer Saturday, it will face the winner of No. 2 Gordon and No. 7 New England College Wednesday.
