12 Gulls Receive CCC Postseason Honors; Pagluiso & Hagarty Earn Major Awards

CCC ALL-CONFERENCE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Twelve members of the Endicott men's lacrosse program have claimed Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason honors, as announced by the organization earlier today.

Nick Pagluiso (Shelton, Conn.) and Eric Hagarty '10 M'11 headlined the group as the duo received CCC Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year accolades, respectively.

Meanwhile, Jack Sutherland (Sudbury, Mass.), Sam DesMarais (York, Maine), Andrew Fithian (Marshfield, Mass.), Austin Fournier (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.), and Nick Sturgess (Hampstead, N.H.) were all named to the All-CCC First Team.

Pagluiso also was joined on the All-CCC Second Team by Sam Abate (Beverly, Mass.), Ryan Fincher (Westport, Conn.), James Loughran (Cos Cob, Conn.), and Reed Rezanka (San Diego, Calif.), while Craig Claflin (Natick, Mass.) earned a spot on the All-CCC Third Team to round out the list of highlights for the Gulls.


NICK PAGLUISO | FR. | A/M

In 14 games played this season, Pagluiso has compiled 16 goals and a league-leading 35 assists for 51 points (second in CCC).

He is the first Endicott men's lacrosse student-athlete to receive CCC Rookie of the Year honors and also pace the conference in assists since Colin Bannon (Westport, Conn.) '17 M'18 accomplished both feats in 2014 and 2016, respectively.

Nationally, Pagluiso ranks No. 31 in assists, while the Gulls are positioned No. 30 in the same category (2.50 assists per game) in Division III.


JACK SUTHERLAND | SR. | A

Sutherland notched 35 goals and 14 assists for 49 points in 14 games played this season. He currently ranks second in goals, 11th in assists, and fourth in points in the CCC.

Sutherland scored at least one goal in every game this year, registered five or more points in five games, and tallied a career-high six goals and nine points against Curry on 4/28/2021.

He also buried his 100th career goal against Nichols on May 1, 2021 (00:01 in 3rd quarter, 12-2).

Sutherland is now a three-time CCC All-Conference selection (two first team honors)


SAM DESMARAIS | SR. | M

DesMarais earned his first career All-Conference honor via 26 goals and six assists for 32 points in 13 games played.

The senior midi currently ranks seventh in goals, 22nd in assists, and 11th in points in the CCC.

DesMarais buried at least two goals in nine games this year, which included a streak of six two-goal games spanning from April 10 (Western New England) to April 28 (Curry). Meanwhile, his career-high for goals (5) and points (6) came in a pivotal conference win against Roger Williams on April 3.


ANDREW FITHIAN | SR. | D

Fithian was a dominant force all season long for the Gulls as the senior currently leads the CCC in caused turnovers (40) and ranks No. 19 nationally in caused turnovers per game (2.86, 14 games).

He has notched at least three caused turnovers in eight games this year and forced a career-high seven turnovers against Curry on April 7.

As a defensive unit, the Gulls are positioned first in the CCC in ground balls (499), caused turnovers (212), clear percentage (84.1), and goals against average (7.42) in large part to Fithian's play.

This is Fithian's third career All-Conference honor (first career first team selection).


AUSTIN FOURNIER | GR. | G

Fournier anchored the best defensive unit in the CCC behind the following league-leading stats: games played (14), games started (14), minutes (779:36), goals against average (7.47), saves (148), save percentage (60.4), wins (12), and win percentage (85.7).

Nationally, Fournier is situated No. 19 in goals against average and No. 22 in save percentage.

Some of his other season highlights include winning CCC Defensive Player of the Week honors four times this season.

He also made 10 or more saves nine games on the year – including a season-best 19 versus Trinity (Conn.) on March 23 – and allowed four goals or less six times, highlighted by his performance in Endicott's 9-4 win over Western New England in CCC Championship.

The four goals allowed were the second-lowest total ever (tied) in a conference championship game in CCC history.

This is Fournier's first career All-Conference selection.


NICK STURGESS | GR. | LSM

Along with Fithian and Fournier, Sturgess also played a major role in Endicott's defensive prowess this season.

The senior long-stick has compiled 32 caused turnovers (3rd in CCC) and 48 ground balls (7th in CCC) in 14 games.

Sturgess, who also has scored three goals this year, collected his first career All-CCC First Team selection with today's announcement.


SAM ABATE | JR. | M

In 14 games, Abate has scored 18 goals and dished out six assists for 24 points.

He currently ranks No. 12 in goals, No. 22 in assists, and No. 15 in points in the CCC.

This is Abate's first career All-Conference honor.


RYAN FINCHER | JR. | D

Fincher has amassed 16 caused turnovers (7th CCC) and 29 ground balls (18th CCC) in 14 games.

He also played a key role in the Gulls' one-on-one defensive play and transition game.

Much like several of his other counterparts, this is Fincher's first career All-Conference honor.


JAMES LOUGHRAN | SR. | D

Loughran was another key cog in Endicott's defense this season as the senior registered 38 caused turnovers (2nd CCC) and 67 ground balls (4th CCC).

Nationally, Loughran also ranks No. 27 in caused turnovers per game at 2.71.

This is Loughran's second career All-Conference honor and first All-CCC First Team selection.


REED REZANKA | SR. | SHORT-STICK

Rezanka's play was equally as important to Endicott's success on defense as the senior short-stick specialist compiled seven caused turnovers and 27 ground balls in addition to three goals and one assist in 14 games.

This is Rezanka's first career All-Conference award.


CRAIG CLAFLIN | JR. | M

In 14 games played, Claflin tallied 15 goals (21st CCC) and five assists for 20 points (25th CCC).

He scored in 11 out of 14 games on the season, highlighted by a four-point (3g, 1a) effort in a win against Salve Regina on April 14.

This is Claflin's first career All-Conference honor.


ERIC HAGARTY '10 M'11 | HEAD COACH

Hagarty garnered CCC Coach of the Year honors for the first time in his career behind a 12-2 overall record and perfect 7-0 mark in conference play this season.

The Gulls, who went 7-0 at home in 2021, currently lead the CCC in games played (14), goals (206), assists (119), shots (699), shots on goal (430), man-up percentage (41.0), ground balls (499), caused turnovers (212), clear percentage (84.1), goals against average (7.42), and save percentage (60.6).

Endicott also ranks second in goals per game (14.71), man-up goals (16), and saves (160).

Nationally, the Blue and Green are No. 45 in points per game, No. 30 in assists, No. 2 in caused turnovers per game 15.14, minimum 10 games played), No. 29 in ground balls, No. 38 in man-up offense, No. 40 in saves, No. 21 in scoring defense (7.43), No. 32 in scoring margin (7.29), and No. 48 in scoring offense (14.71).
