The Golden Bears (10-4 overall) claimed the top seed in the conference tournament after posting a perfect 7-0 record in CCC play. Top-seeded Western New England and second-seeded Roger Williams University (9-5 overall, 6-1 CCC) will both receive byes in the tournament’s quarterfinal round.
Two quarterfinal matches will be played on Saturday, April 28. Third-seeded Endicott College (8-8, 5-2) will host sixth-seeded Nichols College (7-8, 2-5) at 2:00 p.m. in Beverly, Mass., while fourth-seeded University of New England (9-8, 3-4) will host fifth-seeded Gordon College (7-7, 3-4) at 1:00 p.m. in Biddeford, Maine.
Winners of the two quarterfinal matches will advance to the semifinal round on Wednesday, May 2. Top-seeded Western New England will host the winner of the UNE vs. Gordon quarterfinal, while second-seeded Roger Williams will host the winner of the of the Endicott vs. Nichols quarterfinal. Both semifinal matches are scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
CCC tiebreaking procedures were used to determine the number four and number six seeds. For the fourth seed, both UNE and Gordon compiled identical 3-4 conference records. UNE was awarded the fourth seed based on a 9-8 double-overtime victory over Gordon on April 11. For the sixth seed and final berth in the tournament, both Nichols and Curry posted 2-5 CCC records, but a 9-5 triumph by Nichols in the teams’ April 14 matchup snapped the deadlock.
Tournament action culminates with the CCC championship game on Saturday, May 5 at 1:00 p.m. The CCC tournament champion will earn an automatic berth in the upcoming 2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
