SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Gulls freshman attacker Kyle Weber (West Hartford, Conn.) was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week for his four-point effort in a tough loss to \#7 ranked Amherst last Wednesday night.
Weber scored three times and tallied an assist in second straight outstanding against a nationally ranked opponent. Four days earlier, Weber had put up two goals against Stevens at home who was then ranked \#7 in the country.
Against Amherst, Weber was a major factor in Endicott’s 3-0 lead early in the first quarter. After a goal by Kyle Burke (Haverhill, Mass.) put the Gulls ahead 1-0 just 41 seconds in the game, Weber struck back-to-back, first unassisted at 10:27 and again at 8:46 with an assist to Joshua Tordik (Sayville, N.Y.), to give Endicott the early momentum.
The Lord Jeffs took control of the game and went ahead 11-4 at the end of the third quarter. Tordik put Endicott back on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal at 11:11 in the fourth quarter and Weber completed his hat trick less than two minutes later, receiving a pass from Michael Armstrong (Winchester, Mass.) to pull the Blue and Green to within five. He would later assist on a goal by Connor McCormack (Norwalk, Conn.) with 3:53 remaining in the game.
Weber ranks second on the team in scoring with seven goals and tied for fourth on the team in points with eight. He sports a .762 shots on goal percentage, converting seven of his 16 shots on net into goals.
Weber and the Gulls continue their CCC schedule following last night’s 15-6 win over UNE with another home contest against North Shore rival Gordon on Wednesday at 7:00 pm. Endicott will be looking for back-to-back wins for the first time this season against a Scots squad that has won just once over the last 10 meetings with Endicott dating back to April of 2006.
