Endicott Climbs to Fourth Place Finish at RIC Invitational

WARWICK, R.I. – In their first event of the spring season leading up the CCC Championship, the Endicott men's golf team finished fourth out of 17 teams at the Rhode Island College Invitational at the 6,458-yard, par-72 Valley Country Club.

Endicott went into day two sitting in ninth place after freshman Drew Benshoff (Concord, Mass.) led the five-man team with a +4, 76. Junior Alex Viola (Brunswick, Maine) submitted a +7, 79 scorecard as the Gulls trailed CCC schools Western New England (fourth) and Wentworth (eighth) after day one.

On day two, junior Austin Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) stepped up his game at led the Blue and Green with a +4, 76 for a two-day total of 157 for the 2014 Ping All-American. Teal's two-day output helped Endicott move ahead of their conference opponents into fourth place as a team.

Behind Endicott, Nichols and Western New England tied Tufts for fifth place. Roger Williams finished in 12th and Wentworth in 14th place.

Endicott now looks ahead to Wednesday, April 8th for a one-day event with Bentley at Newport National before the two-day UMass Dartmouth Invitational on April 10th-11th at Allendale Country Club.
