Endicott Claims CCC Championship Qualifier; Set to Host CCC Championship in Spring

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine-  Endicott claimed the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship Qualifier by 14 strokes on Thursday at the Dunegrass Golf Club after recording a team score of 308.  The Gulls were led by medalist winner Austin Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) who shot a +1, 73 on the day on the par 72 course.  With the win, Endicott will now play host to the CCC Championship to be played in the spring.

Teal's 73 was one shot better than his nearest competitors from Western New England and Nichols and came with an even 36 on the front nine and back nine of 37.  Finishing second for the Gulls and tied for fourth at the tournament was Alex Viola (Brunswick, Maine) as he posted a +4, 76.  Viola posted a 37 on the front nine and a 39 on the back.  

Tied for sixth overall was Endicott freshman Drew Benshoff (Concord, Mass.) who closed his round with a +7, 79.  Benshoff closed strong, posting a back nine 38 after opening with a 41 on the front.  Sophomore Dan Negus (Pembroke, Mass.) was fourth for Endicott and tied for eighth overall, shooting an +8, 80 on the day.  Freshman Ben Palazzo (Farmington, Conn.) closed the competition for the Gulls, finishing the Qualifier with a +10, 82 which tied him for 11th.

With the win, Endicott will now play host to the CCC Championship to be held in the spring at a time, date and location that are to be determined.  The Gulls next return to action on the 30th, as they travel back to Maine to compete in the UNE Invitational at the Cape Arundel Golf Club in Kennebunkport, Maine.
