Baseball Sweeps Wentworth, 11-1 & 13-3 (7 inn.)

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott baseball team swept Wentworth, 11-1 and 13-3 (7 inn.) on Saturday evening at North Field.

GAME ONE: Endicott 11, Wentworth 1

WP: Michael Kozlowski (Cheshire, Conn.) – 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K
LP: Brandon Sullivan (Quincy, Mass.) – 5 1/3 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 4 BB, 5 K

Kozwloski struck out a career-high nine batters and limited Wentworth to a 1-for-8 showing with runners on to push his record to 5-1 on the season (second-most wins in the conference).

Offensively, the Gulls dropped a seven-spot in the first inning and never looked back behind Kozlowski's stellar outing.

Jake Nardone (Wakefield, Mass.) highlighted the frame with a two-run homer, his first of three dingers on the day.

Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.) also ripped a two-run double off the left field wall and later came around to score little league home run style to cap the scoring in the frame.

In total, Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.), Justin Wardwell (Westport, Mass.), Nardone, Kyle Grabowski (Westfield, Mass.), and Pacheco all registered multi-hit games in the blowout win, which featured a 12-hit barrage for Endicott in the seven-inning contest.

GAME TWO: Endicott 13, Wentworth 3 (7 inn.)

WP: Rian Schwede (Whitman, Mass.) – 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
LP: Brodi Farinas (Lewiston, Maine) – 2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 1 K

Endicott mercy-ruled Wentworth in game two via the long ball as the Gulls launched three homers to complete the sweep.

Nardone sparked the offense yet again, this time with a three-run shot in the first inning. Joseph Millar (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) followed with a two-run homer in the second to make it 5-0, but Nardone wouldn't be outdone as the sophomore first baseman drilled another three-run shot in the fourth to put the game out of reach at 9-1.

Meanwhile, Nickolas Perkins (Nashua, N.H.) and Pacheco eventually put the mercy rule in play in the sixth with a pair of two-run doubles to left center, respectively.

As for Schwede, the sophomore righty whiffed a career-high seven batters to improve to 2-1 on the year.
