BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott baseball team swept Nichols in a conference doubleheader by scores of 11-3 and 6-5 on Friday evening at North Field.
GAME ONE: Endicott 11, Nichols 3
Endicott starter Michael Kozlowski (Cheshire, Conn.) improved to 2-0 on the year via five innings of work, six hits, two runs (one earned), one walk, and four strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) earned his first career save as the junior righty yielded two hits, one run (earned), and a walk to go along with four strikeouts in two innings.
As for the offense, leading 4-3 headed into the bottom of the sixth inning, Endicott exploded for seven runs in the frame highlighted by a two-run home run from Kyle Grabowski (Westfield, Mass.) and a solo shot by Vincent Walker (Burtonsville, Md.) to close out the scoring for the Gulls in the victory.
GAME TWO: Endicott 6, Nichols 5
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Liam Crovo (Melrose, Mass.) tripled to deep center field scoring Matthew McKinley (Hudson, N.H.) from first base to walk it off for the Gulls.
Crovo's game-winning hit was sparked by Caleb Shpur (East Cannan, Conn.) who crushed a three-run home run earlier in the eighth to give Endicott a 5-4 lead at the time.
Nicholas Cannata (Marlborough, Conn.) was credited with his first career win as the freshman right-hander completed two innings alongside two hits, one run (earned), no free passes, and three strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- Endicott improved to 35-8 all-time against Nichols.
- The Gulls have won five straight versus the Bison dating back to 4/22/2018.
- Endicott pushed its winning streak to four straight games with tonight's doubleheader sweep.
