Women’s Cross Country Places 13th At NCAA Regionals

BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Endicott women's cross country team finished 13th overall out of 35 programs at the NCAA Division III East Regional Championship on Saturday afternoon.

MIT won the NCAA Division III East Region Championship behind a score of 36 points.

The Engineers were followed by Bates (64), Brandeis (142), Tufts (145), Bowdoin (172), Wellesley (186), WPI (220), Colby (279), Suffolk (292) and Keene State (314) to round out the top-10.

Meanwhile, Endicott scored 447 points to rank inside the top-15 of the field.

Individually, Hannah Shepard (Keene, N.H.) led the Gulls with a 40th place finish on the 6-kilometer course (23:38.3, personal best) among 243 entrants. Shepard's finish was only five spots shy from claiming All-Region honors (top-35).

Julia Adrian (Noank, Conn.), Emma Johnson (Reading, Mass.), Brianna am Ende (East Lyme, Conn.), and Cate Herndon (Westwood, Mass.) followed in 78th (24:50.2, PR), 88th (25:02.0, PR), 94th (25:11.8), and 149th (27:34.9) place, respectively.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Shepard produced the best individual finish for the Gulls since the regional championship alignment occurred last season (10-region model).
  • Endicott averaged a time of 25:15 on the 6-kilometer course.
