BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott women's track and field senior distance runner Abigail Keim (Williston, Vt.) and head coach Spencer Lange were both honored with Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason major awards earlier today.
Keim was named the CCC Scholar-Athlete, while Lange received Co-Coach of the Year honors from his peers. The Gulls also received the league's Team Sportsmanship award for the second straight season.
Voting for this year's postseason awards was conducted by the five CCC women's track and field head coaches in the week following the CCC Championship. Meanwhile, the announcement of the league's All-Conference honorees is made at the CCC Championship meet which occurred on Saturday, April 27. ABIGAIL KEIM | CCC SCHOLAR-ATHLETE
Keim is a biology & biotechnology and psychology double major who currently holds a 4.0 GPA and has already enrolled in medical school at Dartmouth, prior to graduation. Her resume includes the 2018 CCC Scholar-Athlete award in cross country and a Google Cloud Academic All-District selection, also in 2018.
The distance runner and 2015 CCC Rookie of the Year is also very involved on campus. She is the President of the Psi Chi Honor Society and a member of the Phi Sigma Honor Society, the Mortar Board Honor Society, and the Biotechnology Society. Keim also participates as the head delegate of the Model UN team.
She has completed internships at Mass General Institute for Neurodegenerative Disease, the Janssen-Heininger Laboratory, and the Vermont Lung Center. Her current research is on the correlation between concussions and loss of olfactory senses and has already produced several psychology and biology publications and abstracts.
Lastly, Keim is a member of the Dean's List, serves as peer tutor and mentor, and helped organize a Relay For Life event at the school.
SPENCER LANGE | CCC CO-COACH OF THE YEAR
Lange, who shares this year's award with Roger Williams head coach Sean Livingston, earned his first CCC Coach of the Year honor this spring in just Endicott's second year as a varsity program.
The Gulls finished fourth at the 2019 CCC Championship behind one individual championship performance (shot put) and five additional All-Conference efforts. Lange's team showed a 24-point improvement at the championship meet when compared to last year because of its program-high nine All-Conference honorees.
Under Lange, Endicott also sent a program-best 11 student-athletes to NCAA Division III New England Regionals a week after the CCC Championship concluded.
