Women’s Track & Field Places Fourth At CCC Championship

BRISTOL, R.I. — The Endicott women's track and field team placed fourth overall at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships on Saturday evening behind one individual championship performance and five additional All-Conference efforts.

Meanwhile, Roger Williams repeated as conference champions with a score of 187 points. The Hawks had eight individual champions out of the 19 events en route to capturing the team title. Roger Williams was followed in the team standings by Salve Regina (155), Gordon (122), Endicott (78), and Nichols (43).

The Gulls' score of 78 points was significant as it marked a 24-point improvement for the second-year program in comparison to last year's CCC Championships.

As for Endicott on the individual side, freshman Nicole D'Angelo (Readfield, Maine) highlighted the Gulls with a first place finish in the shot put (35-feet, 11.5-inches) and a second place performance in the pole vault (8-feet, 11.75-inches). D'Angelo is now the second student-athlete in program history to win an individual conference championship.

Student-athletes who place first (gold medalist), second (silver medalist), or third (bronze medalist) in an event earn All-Conference First Team, Second Team, and Third Team honors. Additionally, the five CCC head coaches will vote on major postseason awards next week. Following the voting period, the conference will recognize a Runner of the Year, Rookie Runner of the Year, Field Performer of the Year, Field Rookie of the Year, and a CCC Scholar-Athlete. Coaches will also be voting on winners for Coach of the Year and Team Sportsmanship.

Other highlights for the Gulls included Emma Farrington's (Essex Junction, Vt.) outstanding distance double in the 3,000-meter run (second place, 11:12.48, school record) and the 1,500-meter run (sixth place, 5:19.65).

Endicott's 4x100-meter relay consisting of Gabrielle Morton (Peabody, Mass.), Arianna Moffatt (Essex, Vt.), Hevyn Pray (Rehoboth, Mass.), and Julianne Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.) also placed third in the event with a school record time of 52.71-seconds.

Lastly, Jenna Raffael (North Reading, Mass.) and Olivia Folkes (Amston, Conn.) rounded out the list of All-Conference performances for the Gulls with second and third place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles (16.59) and 400-meter dash (1:03.82), respectively.

"The standards and expectations they have set for themselves is remarkable being only two years into this program's history, so it's been great to see them enjoy the process along the way. This is a very competitive conference, which made for a battle today. We're excited to represent Endicott at NCAA Regionals next week!"

OTHER ENDICOTT HIGHLIGHTS

Pray and D'Angelo went fifth (13.56) and sixth (13.62), respectively, in the 100-meter dash.
Both times broke the previous school record of 13.64 set by Sullivan on two different occasions (4/5/19, 4/20/19).
Morton and Sullivan ranked fourth (28.69) and fifth (28.88) in the 200-meter dash.
Recupero finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (1:04.27) and seventh in the 800-meter run (2:40.62).
Gabrielle Rabito (Woburn, Mass.) was eighth in the 5,000-meter run (20:48.71).
Jamie Budge (Old Tappan, N.J.) and Giana Nekitopoulos (West Springfield, Mass.) ranked fourth (17.49) and sixth (17.62) in the 100-meter hurdles, respectively.
Amelia Castelli (Scituate, R.I.) finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:15.05).
Folkes, Kira Charrier (Dartmouth, Mass.), Castelli, and Recupero posted a fourth place finish in the 4x400-meter relay (4:35.07).
In the remaining field events, Nekitopoulous was fifth in the high jump (4-feet, 7.75-inches) and seventh in the triple jump (32-feet, 2-inches).
Morton came in fifth in the long jump (15-feet, 2.25-inches).
Taylor Jordan (Saco, Maine) placed sixth in the discus with a toss of 84-feet and 2-inches.
Raffael concluded the list of highlights for the Gulls with a seventh place performance in the javelin (91-feet, 8-inches).
