Plymouth State downs women's tennis
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University women’s tennis team swept the three doubles matches and went on to defeat Endicott College, 8-1, in a non-conference match at the P.E. Center Courts.

The outcome was PSU’s first victory over Endicott since 2004.  The Gulls had won the previous five matches over Plymouth State by a combined score of 36-9.  The Panthers are now 3-0 on the season, while Endicott drops to 1-2 on the season.

Sophomore Sara Burke (Barrington, R.I.) and freshman Molly Heartfield (Dorset, Vt.) won their No. 1 doubles match for PSU, 8-5, while sophomore Rachel Figura (Cheshire, Conn.) and junior Lydia Smith (Marblehead, Mass.) were victories at No. 2 doubles, 8-3, and junior Laura Donovan (Acton, Mass.) teamed up with freshman Elizabeth Silsby (Dorset, Vt.) for an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Endicott junior \#Kate Cioffi\# (Essex, Vt.) was a winner at No. 1 singles for the only Gulls victory of the day, and the Panthers pulled out the remaining five singles matches.  \#Emily Annis\# (Hampton, N.H.) and \#Laura MacLeod\# (Mashpee, Mass.) both fell in three sets.  

The Panthers are now idle for nine days before returning to action on Saturday, Sept. 18, with a Little East Conference match at UMass Dartmouth.  Endicott is back on the courts this Saturday, Sept. 11, at Gordon College (12:00 p.m.)
