Endicott holds off RIC in non-conference action

Providence, R.I. - The Endicott College women's tennis team improved to 8-3 on the season, winning a tight, 5-4, match at Rhode Island College on Monday afternoon at the RIC Tennis Courts. The Anchorwomen see their record dip to 5-4 with their second loss in as many days.

The two squads split in singles action, with the Gulls winning from the top spot through No. 3, while the Anchorwomen took the bottom three matches. The Blue and Green took two of three in doubles, which proved to be the difference in the contest.

Sophomore \#Kate Cioffi\# (Essex, Vt.) earned a straight set decision (7-5, 6-0) at No. 1 singles, while senior \#Nicole Breting\# (Johnston, R.I.) and classmate \#Lori Wardner\# (Wrentham, Mass.) combined to win an 8-5 bout at No. 2 doubles as well as their respective singles matches at No. 2 and 3, respectively. 

RIC freshmen Marissa Langellier (Greenville, R.I.) and Doris Belanger (West Warwick, R.I.) were a bright spot for the hosts, each winning their respective singles matches at No. 5 and 6, and pairing up for a win at No. 3 doubles.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Suffolk on Thursday, Oct. 1st. Endicott retakes the court on Wednesday when the Blue and Green host Gordon at 3:30 p.m.
