Defending champs Endicott picked to finish second

The Endicott College women’s tennis team, who captured its first-ever TCCC title last fall, has been selected to finish in second place in the 2009 TCCC Preseason Poll, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning. The Gulls will look to defend their title against the preseason’s top-ranked team, Colby-Sawyer College.

Colby-Sawyer (17-1, 10-0 TCCC) received seven of the 12 first-place votes in the 2009 TCCC preseason poll. Defending champion Endicott was picked as the runner-up receiving the remaining five first-place votes.  Salve Regina University and Roger Williams University were selected to finish third and fourth, respectively.

Anna Maria College will compete for The Commonwealth Coast Conference championship for the first time in the 2009 season.

Teams received 12 points for every first place vote received, 11 points for second place votes, 10 points for third place votes, down to one point for a last place vote. First place votes are shown in parentheses. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the league’s head women’s tennis coaches.
