Third Seeded Gulls to Open CCC Tournament At Home on Saturday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott has earned the #3 seed and the right to host a home game for the opening round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer tournament, which kicks off this Saturday afternoon.

The Gulls, who have a CCC record of 7-1-1, are making their 16th consecutive trip to their conference postseason tournament and are looking to reach the conference finals for the 12th straight year. Endicott has posted an 11-5-2 overall record this year.

Endicott will face the #6 seed Wentworth Institute of Technology, who come into the tournament with a record of 6-11-1 (4-5 CCC), on Saturday at 1:30 pm at Endicott Stadium.

The Leopards and the Gulls met in the final regular season game of the year on Wednesday night, with the Blue and Green emerging as 8-0 winners. Endicott senior Vanessa Caruccio (Winthrop, Mass.) scored four times in that game, and the Gulls outshot the Leopards 30-5.

The top seed in the tournament went to Gordon College (15-2, 8-1 CCC), whose only conference loss was dealt by Endicott, a 2-0 Gulls win at Wenham on October 3rd. Gordon will host #8 seed Western New England University (8-10-1, 2-7-0) in a quarterfinal contest Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Other quarterfinal matchups slated for Saturday include #2 seed Roger Williams University (10-6-2, 7-1-1) hosting #7 seed Salve Regina University (8-9-1, 3-5-1) at 12:30 p.m.  and  #4 seed Eastern Nazarene College (8-7-3, 5-2-2)  will host #5 seed University of New England (7-10-1, 5-3-1) at 4:00 p.m.

CCC tiebreaking procedures were used to determine the #2 seed in the tournament.  Both Roger Williams and Endicott completed the regular-season conference schedule with identical 7-1-1 records.  RWU earned the #2 seed by virtue of a 2-1 victory over Endicott in the CCC opener for both teams on September 15.

Quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinal round which will be played on Tuesday, October 30 at the sites of the higher seed.  Matches are tentatively scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Semifinal winners will square off for the conference championship on Saturday, November 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the site of the higher seed.
