Building Today for a Successful Tomorrow

Building Today for a Successful Tomorrow

The Women's Ice Hockey schedule was recently announced, with 11 scheduled games to take place during the 2009-2010 season.  Additional games will be scheduled through March, and will be announced accordingly.

After a 2008-09 start-up, the women's ice hockey team organized to practice several times per week at Salem State College and the Pingree School in Hamilton, MA.  Scheduled for 6 games that began last November, the season had its ups and downs playing against more experienced u-19 club teams and other college/university club teams.  Still, the team forged through and never lost momentum.  Following the last game of the year in a team meeting with members of the Salem State Women's Ice Hockey team, it was decided to put forward a new plan that consisted of a combination of the two teams in order to be better prepared and more competitive.

This fall, beginning October 13 at Salem State, the two collegiate neighbors will begin tryouts at 5:30 PM.  Endicott will put forward a group of 15 players, including two goalies, while Salem will closely match those numbers with two goalies of their own.  Practice will take place everyday that week, leading to a game on Saturday, March 17 at 12:30 (opponent tba) and on Sunday, October 18 versus Don Blaine's "Lakes Region" squad at 6:30 PM.  Both games will be played at Salem State College, in Salem MA.

The combined efforts of Endicott College and Salem State will provide the perfect partnership in forming a solid foundation for the respective schools' programs moving forward.  With time to build, and experience to match-it is the hope there is enough success for the Endicott College Women's Ice Hockey team to be recognized as an official club as early as this January.  With Club status, the layers of organization are incrementaly more substantial, recruiting becomes a greater priority, and even a varsity label has to be considered for future years.
