A Student's Perspective

The Endicott College Women’s Ice Hockey Team has completed their inaugural season with great forward progress!  Upon returning from winter break, the young Gulls faced tough opponents in UMass Lowell, Harvard Business, and MIT. Their first game back against the UMass Lowell Riverhawks proved to be too much for the Gulls as they lost 6-2. The following day, the women faced a gut-wrenching 4-3 loss against the women from MIT. Despite these two loses, the Gulls fought hard in their next match to earn a 9-0 win over Harvard Business School.  Even with this big win under their wings, the Gulls were unable to beat UMass Lowell in their rematch and season finale with a 7-2 loss on the road. Despite an overall record 0f 2-10-2, the Endicott College Women’s Ice Hockey Team has had great success this season, with a 2-3-2 stretch that would have captured points in four of seven games for the young gulls during league play.  This team has really grown from a small group of eager hockey players that would get together for a few practices a week to a full roster with a fourteen game season. The women will carry this momentum into next season with a new recruiting class and a now-veteran core of returning players.  We would like to thank the coaches, staff, and fans for all of their hard work and support that made this first official season possible!  Special thanks goes out to Advisor and first coach Craig Roderick-thanks for the buses so we can ride in style, our Salem State ice/facility contact and first coach John O’Neil, the SSC Athletic Training staff who covered all of our games and practices, and this year's coaches who have helped us out so much, Vin Grafoni and Danielle Finocchiaro.
